Friday Night Hoedowns at Virginia Beach Farmers Market

For 2011, Friday Night Hoedowns will be held every Friday night through October 30 at 7 pm at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market, located at 3640 Dam Neck Road in Virginia Beach. Friday Night Hoedowns are held rain or shine unless storms contain lightning.

2011 Virginia Free Fishing Days

Virginia saltwater anglers may fish without a license during the first weekend in June. The free fishing days (June 3-5, 2011) will allow anglers to fish without having to buy a saltwater license.

No fishing license of any kind will be required for recreational saltwater rod and reel fishing during free fishing days. All fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions, will remain in effect.

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has declared the weekend of June 3-5, 2011 to be free fishing days in the state’s freshwaters as well, except in designated stocked trout waters.

2011 Pungo Strawberry Festival

The 2011 Pungo Strawberry Festival & Parade will be held May 28 - 29 from  9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This annual festival celebrates Virginia strawberries with events for the entire family.

The annual Pungo Strawberry Festival starts off with a parade on Saturday at 9 a.m., and then the fun continues with live entertainment on three stages, a carnival, arts and crafts, and more.

The community of Pungo occupies the southern part of Virginia Beach, Va.
