Lake Smith and Lake Lawson near Virginia Beach

The Lake Smith and Lake Lawson natural area is a network of three wooded waterfront peninsulas that will serve as Virginia Beach’s newest designated Natural Resource Area. The city recently acquired the area through its Open Space Acquisition Program.

The city is developing a master plan with citizen input to provide recreational programming, development and management of Parks and Recreation properties at Lake Smith and Lake Lawson. Improvements are to include a boat ramp, parking facilities, and trails with construction taking place in the next 12 to 18 months.
